About the Candidate.
I am the litigation partner at our firm, and meet with potential clients (both individuals or businesses), interview and perform the initial merit assessments of disputes and then decide on whether I would run with the matter or whether our two other attorneys would either get involved or run these matters. Our focus is in the areas of wills and estates and civil and commercial matters including contractual disputes.

Key Responsibilities:
Meet with clients and present our terms of engagement including the financial implications in the form of quotes for clients and explain the risks and prospects of success to clients
Fielding calls from potential clients or existing clients who require clarification and/or updates
Instruct other attorneys, our paralegal and other staff on work requirements
Draft and/or settle pleadings, opinions, affidavits, heads of arguments and settlement agreements;
Consult with advocates and provide them with briefs
Do research on case law for trial preparation or heads of argument either using our physical library (law reports and LAWSA) and/or digital library (Juta and/or Lexis Nexis precedents)
Appear in court (motion or trial court) to argue matters or settle them
Write letters of demand and or “without prejudice” letters to settle matters
Maintain physical and/or digital files.
